About Jasper Ridge LLC
Jasper Ridge isn't a person or a place—it's a little bit of both.
When I started the company in 2018, I wanted the name to mean something. Jasper Ridge represents two important influences in my life: where my career began and where I came from.
The Story Behind the Name
Jasper
My landscaping career started when I was 14 years old.
A nearby neighbor—whose name inspired “Jasper”—hired me to help landscape his backyard. That summer I helped build a flagstone and boulder retaining wall, plant trees and shrubs, install irrigation, and complete many of the other tasks that go into building a landscape.
Looking back, that summer had a much bigger impact on my life than I realized at the time.
Jasper wasn't only responsible for giving me one of my first opportunities in landscaping. He was also a business owner. We often had long conversations about business and entrepreneurship, and those conversations helped fuel a desire I already had to someday own a business of my own.
Years later, when it came time to name that business, Jasper was a fitting reminder of where it all began.
Ridge
The other half of the name comes from where I grew up.
I spent my teenage years on the Western Slope of Colorado, where the landscape is considerably different from Southwest Missouri. Some of my favorite memories are riding dirt bikes through the Adobe Hills and the ridges surrounding my hometown.
Those hills were rugged, dry and sometimes almost completely barren—but there was a beauty to them.
For me, Ridge is a reminder of home, but it also represents balance. Working hard is important, but so is taking the time to enjoy what you've worked for.
There's also something fitting about that landscape inspiring the name of a landscape company. We get to take properties that aren't working as they should—sometimes muddy, washed out, overgrown or simply unfinished—and turn them into something functional and enjoyable again.
Even after all these years, one of my favorite parts of this work is still seeing the transformation from start to finish.
ABOUT CARSON JENSEN
From a young age, I wanted to own a business.
When my siblings and I played “town,” I always wanted to be the business owner. As I got older, that interest in business continued, while the summer jobs and projects I took on as a teenager developed into a genuine interest in landscaping.
What started as a teenage job eventually became my career.
Learning What Quality Looks Like
After high school, while attending college, I began working for a high-end residential landscape company.
This is where the foundation for the way I approach landscape construction today was really built.
I had the opportunity to work on high-end residential projects where attention to detail mattered and where the expectation was that things were built correctly, looked right and would last.
I learned the trade hands-on—from irrigation and planting to grading, drainage, stonework and complete landscape installations.
More importantly, I learned there is a difference between simply completing a job and taking the time to do it right.
Many of the details that determine the quality of a landscape aren't obvious when the project is finished. Proper preparation, drainage, grading, materials and installation methods may eventually be covered by dirt, sod, rock or plants—but those details often determine how well a project performs years later.
That experience shaped a standard I still bring to Jasper Ridge today.
Quality isn't only how a project looks when we're finished. It's how it was built underneath, how well it functions and how it holds up over time.
From the Field to Managing Projects
After college, I went to work for a commercial landscape maintenance contractor.
Not long after starting, I convinced the company to let me take responsibility for its landscape installation division. Over the next five years, I helped grow that division to more than three times its original revenue.
That experience gave me another side of the industry.
In addition to the hands-on trade skills I had developed earlier in my career, I gained experience estimating work, managing projects, operating equipment, working with crews and customers, and understanding what it takes to complete landscape projects successfully from beginning to end.
By the time I started Jasper Ridge in 2018, landscaping wasn't something I was learning how to do as a new business owner. I was bringing more than a decade of professional industry experience into a company of my own.
Jasper Ridge Today
Today, Jasper Ridge combines 20+ years of landscape and construction experience with more than 8 years serving homeowners and businesses throughout the Joplin area.
Our work has also become more focused over the years.
We specialize in projects where experience, equipment and attention to the details matter—particularly drainage and water management, grading and site work, irrigation, retaining walls, and landscape installation and renovation.
Some projects are straightforward. Others require us to diagnose why a property isn't draining correctly, establish elevations and grades, move substantial amounts of material, install underground drainage or irrigation systems, or develop a solution where there isn't an obvious answer.
That's the kind of work we enjoy.
We don't believe the goal should simply be to make something look good when we leave. It should function correctly and be built to last.
That's what Done Once, Done Right means to us.

One of the things I appreciate most about owning Jasper Ridge is the trust our clients place in us.
