The Story Behind the New Jasper Ridge Logo

Same Values. A New Look.

Eight years ago, when Jasper Ridge was just getting started, I needed a logo.

Like many small business owners, I didn't hire a design firm or spend weeks developing a brand identity. I opened Microsoft Paint, found a font with a "J" and an "R" that I liked, and merged the two letters together.

That simple logo represented countless estimates, early mornings, late nights, and thousands of hours spent serving homeowners throughout the Joplin area. It appeared on our first truck, our first shirts, and eventually on job sites all over Southwest Missouri.

Over the years, that little logo became something I was proud of.

But as Jasper Ridge has grown, it felt like the right time to create something that better tells our story. Rather than starting over, we wanted to build on what people already recognized while adding the missing piece—the ridge that inspired our name from the very beginning.

More Than Just a Name

People occasionally ask where the name Jasper Ridge came from.

The answer has very little to do with landscaping.

Growing up in western Colorado, I cherish the hours I spent riding dirt bikes with family and friends. One of our favorite places was a mesa known locally as Flat Top.

From the top of the mesa, you could see for miles. It was rugged, beautiful, and always felt like an adventure waiting to happen.

Those memories eventually inspired the name Jasper Ridge.

If you've read our About page, you know our company has always been about more than landscaping. It's about building something that lasts, doing honest work, and creating something we're proud to put our name on.

A Logo With a Story

Our original "JR" mark served us well.

The new logo builds on that foundation while adding something that was missing.

At the center of our new logo you'll notice the silhouette of a ridge or mesa worked into the design.

It's a subtle nod to Flat Top, the place that inspired our company name in the first place.

To most people, it's simply a clean, modern logo.

To me, it's a reminder of where this journey started.

What's Changing?

Not much, honestly.

You'll begin seeing the new logo on our website, proposals, vehicles, apparel, signs, and social media over the coming months.

What isn't changing is much more important.

• We still believe in doing the job right the first time.

• We still value honesty over shortcuts.

• We still take pride in solving difficult landscape and drainage problems.

• We still believe that our reputation is earned one customer at a time.

Looking Ahead

It's amazing to think how far Jasper Ridge has come since those first days with a homemade logo created in Microsoft Paint.

What started as a simple idea has grown into a company trusted by hundreds of homeowners across Southwest Missouri.

This new logo isn't about becoming a different company.

It's about creating a symbol that better reflects who we've been all along.
